This course equips participants with the necessary tools to better manage their interpersonal relationships. It also helps them channel the energy they formerly expended in dealing with unnecessary conflict into productive accomplishment of team and company goals.

Course Summary:

The course presents practical skills and strategies for constructively dealing with conflict in the work place. This is not a "touchy-feely" course — emphasis is placed on understanding conflict, how to recognize it, and how to resolve it in a manner that benefits the people involved and the company they work for. Topics include:

  • Definition of conflict

  • The good, bad and ugly of conflict

  • Determining if a conflict is really a "failure to communicate"

  • Channeling wasted conflict energy into productive work

  • Understanding different personality types and how to best communicate with them

  • Coping with difficult people

  • Effective negotiation skills to resolve conflict

  • Repairing strained or broken relationships

  • The Proactivity Model for handling disruptive interpersonal conflicts

The course is taught by instructors skilled in conflict management and negotiations. They have taught more than 100 courses on these topics.
